MIND THE WATER YOU DRINK

It has come to our notice that despite measures put in place to ensure clean and portable drinking water that some people still try their best to provide low quality water. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) was established by Decree 15 of 1993 as amended by Decree 19 of 1999 and now the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control Act Cap N1 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004. This Act mandates NAFDAC to regulate and control the manufacture, importation, exportation, distribution, advertisement, sale and use of food, drugs, cosmetics, chemicals, detergents, medical devices and packaged water (Known as regulated products).

But it is sad to note that not much have been done concerning this mandates. Nigerians still manage to import fake and substandard products. Some even manufacture it in local areas under poor and unhygienic environments, package it and sell to the general public and putting thier health at risk just to earn a few naira.

Consequently, with the economic situation in this country, it should not come as a surprise when people engage in obnoxious activities including those that are health-threatening to
Nigerians. It is hightime NAFDAC takes control again of these societal miscreants.

The video below shows packaged pure water which were produced in unhygienic environments being destroyed.
