MIND THE WATER YOU DRINK

Image
It has come to our notice that despite measures put in place to ensure clean and portable drinking water that some people still try their best to provide low quality water. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) was established by Decree 15 of 1993 as amended by Decree 19 of 1999 and now the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control Act Cap N1 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004. This Act mandates NAFDAC to regulate and control the manufacture, importation, exportation, distribution, advertisement, sale and use of food, drugs, cosmetics, chemicals, detergents, medical devices and packaged water (Known as regulated products). But it is sad to note that not much have been done concerning this mandates. Nigerians still manage to import fake and substandard products. Some even manufacture it in local areas under poor and unhygienic environments, package it and sell to the general public and putting thier health at risk just to ear

DEVELOPING A SENSE OF RESPONSIBILITY

Image
A sense of responsibility is an awareness of one’s obligations. It can be defined as a general conscious awareness; "a sense of security"; "a sense of happiness"; "a sense of danger"; "a sense of self". Sense of responsibility is an important factor that cannot be overemphasized even in our society. A lot of people in our society have misplaced sense of responsibility which may have been influenced during childhood due to a few factors which I intend to very much highlight here. It’s amazing how the society have been infected both politically, economically and socially by both the ruled and rulers. Misplaced identities I have come to believe with time have been due to lack of a sense of responsibility even in children and adults. Imagine this scenario; a Christian child who is allowed to pray in a mosque for reasons best kn

I PAY YOU TO TAKE CARE OF MY CHILD! IT’S HIS GOD-DAMN RIGHT!

I pay you just enough to take care of my child! It’s his right, why then do you tell me he is not doing well in classes despite the huge sum I pay in the name of fees! Most parents feel that they pay just enough to have their children’s educational needs taken care of. They feel it’s not their duty to ensure that their children excel academically. This is absolutely wrong. In fact as parents, we have a major role to play than teachers. Why is this so? It’s semi-bad enough that children spend about 8-10 hours out of 24 with peers and teachers, I’m not saying its totally bad but this children know more about their teachers and classmates than parents. Teachers can be likened to planters (of knowledge) and as parents, we are like waterers of this knowledge. This knowledge (little plant) can only grow into a tree and maybe a forest depending on how parents have watered it. There should be time allocated for daily activities, this could be in form of a timetable which can be hung i
